ChatGPT can now work across multiple apps and files

OpenAI wants to take ChatGPT from quick responses to longer workflows. Here's what the change means in practice.

OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Work for longer multi-step tasks. The feature can work with connected apps and files and create editable documents, presentations and spreadsheets.

The big change is that the user does not have to control each submoment as actively. A marketer can, for example, let ChatGPT collect data, structure a campaign and produce a first draft in the same workflow.

ChatGPT Work is being rolled out in stages. Availability depends on subscription, administrator settings and which apps the user has connected. The result still needs to be reviewed, especially when it contains numbers, personal data or information from external sources.

AI goes from answering a question to helping with an entire workflow. It can save time, but also raises the demand for clear instructions and human control.
