Claude provides US teachers with free AI support
Anthropic has launched Claude for Teachers for verified teachers in the US. The service can plan lessons and adapt materials, but the offer does not apply to Swedish schools.

Anthropic, the company behind the AI assistant Claude, has launched Claude for Teachers. Verified US K-12 teachers get free access to premium features, a collection of special teaching tools and materials linked to the curricula of all 50 US states.
The service can, among other things, produce lesson plans, adapt materials for students at different levels and create exercises. It can also work with folders that contain, for example, attendance, diagnostic tests and the teacher's own notes. Anthropic states that shared information is not used to train the company's models.
The offer applies to verified teachers in the US and is built for US curricula. It is therefore not a service that Swedish teachers can expect to have access to now. Claude for Teachers is for adult teachers only, in line with Claude's age limit of 18 years.
Anthropic is planning an evaluation with the Detroit school district. The company, meanwhile, describes early signs of benefit to teachers, but there is not yet independent evidence that the new service in particular improves teaching or student outcomes.

The launch shows how AI services are becoming more specialized for different professions. For Swedish schools, the practical question is not whether this particular American service can be purchased, but what requirements are needed for curriculum linking, student data, human review and follow-up when similar tools are assessed.
