The European Commission supports code for labeling AI content

On August 2, 2026, more transparency requirements will apply. Swedish businesses need to understand this.

The European Commission and the European AI Board assess that the voluntary code of conduct can help providers and organizations comply with the transparency requirements for AI-generated content.

From 2 August 2026, requirements for machine-readable labeling from certain suppliers will apply, among other things. In some cases, clear information is also required about manipulated image, audio or video material and about AI-generated text relating to matters of public interest.

The Code is voluntary, but the relevant requirements in Article 50 are legally binding. Which requirements and exceptions apply need to be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
