OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has released the GPT-5.6 model family. It consists of Sol for the most demanding tasks, Terra as a more balanced option and Luna as the fastest and cheapest model in the family.

For the user of ChatGPT, the model names are less important than they can do. OpenAI describes improvements for longer tasks, programming, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. The company's comparisons with other models are largely based on its own tests and should not be read as independent evidence.

The models can be found in ChatGPT, Codex and OpenAI's API, i.e. the interface that developers use to build their own services. Availability varies between subscriptions. The most advanced mode, ultra, coordinates multiple AI agents and is limited to certain payment plans. The multi-agent feature of the API is still beta.

Därför spelar det roll

AI tools get more levels for different tasks. It can provide better control over time and cost, but also makes it more important to choose the right model and check the results instead of always choosing the most powerful option.

Det här kan du göra

  1. Use a faster model for summaries and simple drafts.
  2. Choose a more powerful mode only when the task requires multiple steps or careful analysis.
  3. Check sources, numbers and bottom line regardless of model name.
